Update From Stephen Roach

Hello Makers and Mystics friends!!!! I have missed connecting with you all!  Many of our listeners are aware that over this past year, I have taken time away from the podcast and other public work. This has been a long overdue season of healing, renewal in my marriage, and ultimately renewal of my faith. This time away has allowed me to tend to some broken areas of my life that have needed restoration. 

Despite the many beautiful things that were transpiring in our creative community, I found myself coming apart at the seams. I had grown increasingly distant from God, my wife and children and made poor decisions in areas of my life that mattered most. 

I’m thankful as this time away has brought our family to a most beautiful place together with renewed vision, wholeness and heart for the new season. With the support of friends, family, and wise leaders, I’ve been able to receive healing and recover the heartbeat that first drew me into this work from the beginning.

Makers and Mystics has always championed the maker and the mystic within each of us. Yet, in many ways, I had stopped paying attention to what my own life was making and lost honest union with God. 

In light of this experience, I am focusing Season 9 of the show primarily on mental, emotional and spiritual health as it relates to the creative artist and the nature of my personal journey.

I hope you will continue with me as I take this first step back into the flow. I believe the best is still ahead for us and that beauty, art and genuine redemption is available for even our darkest, most painful moments of life. 

Let’s keep creating. The world needs our art. More importantly it needs our heart.
